The current AI looks for the weakest path leading to You If the total HP of the dirt/stone blocks making up the mountain+ your ceiling is less than the total HP of your undoubtedly heavily reinforced entryway, they will always try to dig down from above(or from the sides if that results in less HP.Whatever is the weakest path).
